Security

CAS/SAML Utilities Allow a virtual organization to express policy regarding resources distributed across a number of sites.
Certificate Utilities Provide certification authority for the purpose of issuing credentials to Globus Toolkit users and services.
Grid Accounting Service Incubator Provides a 100% Java implementation of a resource allocation enforcement and tracking service for the Grid, based on the latest Web services technologies.
GridShib Incubator Integrates a federated authorization infrastructure (Shibboleth) with Grid technology (the Globus Toolkit) to provide attribute-based authorization for distributed scientific communities.
GSI-OpenSSH A modified version of OpenSSH that adds support for X.509 proxy certificate authentication and delegation, providing a single sign-on remote login and file transfer service.
MyProxy Allows you to store X.509 proxy credentials in a repository, protected by a passphrase, for later retrieval over the network.
Security Core C Provides APIs and tools for authentication, authorization and certificate management.
Security Core Java Provides a framework for container level authorization.

Execution Management

CSF Incubator Provides interface and tools for Grid users to submit jobs, create advanced reservations and define different scheduling policies at the Grid level.
GRAM Locates, submits, monitors, and cancels jobs on Grid computing resources (not to be confused with a job scheduler).
GTCP Incubator Provides a service interface for telecontrol.
Karajan Incubator Provides an ensemble-application framework built on Rio and JavaSpaces.
MPICH-G2 Incubator Allows you to couple multiple machines, potentially of different architectures, to run Message Passing Interface (MPI) applications.
Workspace Management Incubator Allows a Grid client to dynamically create and manage a workspace, currently implemented as a Unix account, on a remote site.

Data Management

Data Replication Incubator Allows users to identify a set of desired files existing in their Grid environment, to make local replicas of those data files by transferring files from one or more source locations, and to register the new replicas in a Replica Location Service (RLS).
GridFTP Provides a high-performance, secure, reliable data transfer protocol optimized for high-bandwidth wide-area networks.
OGSA-DAI Provides a pure Java data service framework for accessing and integrating data resources - such as files, relational and XML databases - on to Grids.
RFT Submits and manages a set of third party GridFTP transfers.
RLS Allows the registration and discovery of replicas in a Grid.
Virtual Data System Incubator Provides a set of tools for expressing, executing, and tracking the results of workflows.

Common Runtime Components

Core C Description
Core Java Description
Core Python Description
Core Servicegroup Java Description
Core WS Schema Description
DiPerf Incubator Simplifies and automates service performance evaluation by coordinating a pool of machines that test a target service, collecting and aggregating performance metrics, and generating performance statistics.
Grid Service Build Tools Incubator Aims to develop a set of open-source tools, such as general-purpose build scripts, code generators, etc., that make building Globus services easier.
Handle Integration Incubator Provides a means for uniquely identifying structured data and other resources that can be used to store and retrieve state information about them.

Information Services

MDS Providers Provides specific data for use by MDS Services.
MDS Services Collects data from sources and sends that data for processing. Aggregator sources distributed with the Globus Toolkit include modules that query service data, acquire data through subscription/notification, and execute programs to generate data
MDS Visualizers Enables end users to view monitoring information via a standard web browser interface, without installing any additional software on their PC.

Distribution

Globus Toolkit Creates official Globus Toolkit distributions for use by members of the eScience community and system integrators. This project is responsible for producing GT4.

Documentation

Build a Service Tutorial Teaches developers how to build a Java Service that makes use of GT4 mechanisms for state management, security, registry and related topics.
GT Release Manuals Provides formalized documentation for the components in the Globus Toolkit (GT) distributions.
GT Programmer's Tutorial Provides a starting point for anyone who is going to develop applications using the Globus Toolkit 4 (GT4) with a focus on the Java web services core.
