The highest-level API currently being developed is the "transfer" API, which is specific to performing data transfers. Here is the Header file.

The next level down is called simply the "summarizer" API. Here is its Header file, although to really use it you'll also need to deal with the concept of a sequence of events with this API and you'll need an actual set of summarization functions, such as the time-summarization functions.

Because programmers are driven by API users to be insufferable fiddlers, the current details of these APIs will no doubt be diffferent than the above static files. Please consult subversion or release documentation (cough!).
